CO2 eco­nomy is on the move

For the 3^rd year in a row, the con­fer­ence ​“CO₂ as chem­ic­al feed­stock — a chal­lenge for sus­tain­able chem­istry” will con­cen­trate on this top­ic. It will be held on 2 — 3 Decem­ber 2014 in the ​“Haus der Tech­nik” in Essen, Ger­many, and will be the biggest event on Car­bon Cap­ture and Util­iz­a­tion (CCU) in 2014. More than 200 par­ti­cipants from the lead­ing indus­tri­al and aca­dem­ic play­ers in CO₂ util­iz­a­tion are expec­ted to attend the con­fer­ence and share their recent suc­cess stor­ies, as well as new ideas and products in realization. The nova-Insti­tute, organ­iser of the con­fer­ence, con­cen­trates the most stim­u­lat­ing top­ics in a two-day-pro­gramme. In the last years espe­cially the tech­no­lo­gies for power-to-gas tech­no­lo­gies to pro­duce fuels and energy car­ri­ers on the base of CO₂ evolved world­wide and there­for the con­fer­ence will con­cen­trate on energy from CO₂ this year – although we will not over­see the devel­op­ment of cap­ture and pre-treat­ment of the feed­stock and the use of CO₂ in the chem­ic­al and plastics industry. So again the whole area of Car­bon Cap­ture and Util­iz­a­tion will be addressed. The first day of the con­fer­ence will focus on policy and vis­ions, CO₂ cap­ture and puri­fic­a­tion, H₂ gen­er­a­tion: pre­requis­ite for CO₂ eco­nomy and CO₂ based fuels. At the second day chem­ic­als and energy from CO₂ will be tak­ing centre stage: Nat­ur­al and arti­fi­cial pho­to­syn­thet­ic sys­tems, chem­ic­als and build­ing blocks, poly­mers and mater­i­als based on CO₂ will be presen­ted by lead­ing entre­pren­eurs and sci­ent­ists. Speak­ers of the con­fer­ence include by now Prof. Dr. Peter Styr­ing from the inter­na­tion­al CO₂Chem Net­work (GB), Sven Petersen from Linde Engin­eer­ing (DE), Bruce Dannen­berg as CEO of the Phytonix Cor­por­a­tion (US), Chris­ti­an Sch­weitzer from bse engin­eer­ing (DE), Peter Shep­h­ard from Novomer (US), Dav­id Addis­on from Vir­gin Earth Chal­lenge (GB) as well as speak­ers from Liquid Light Cor­por­a­tion (US) and Lan­zaT­ech (NZ) – all work­ing in the diverse field of CO₂ util­iz­a­tion.
