Insem­pra com­pletes $20 mil­lion fin­an­cing to advance the devel­op­ment of next-gen­er­a­tion bio-based ingredients

Fol­low­ing an ini­tial $15m seed round con­duc­ted in 2021, this fin­an­cing round will enable Insem­pra, to con­tin­ue build­ing a tech­no­logy plat­form that deliv­ers high-per­form­ance, intrins­ic­ally sus­tain­able ingredi­ents for a wide range of indus­tries, while sup­port­ing the com­pany in the scale up of its tech­no­logy scout­ing, devel­op­ment, and man­u­fac­tur­ing capabilities.

Exist­ing investors EQT Ven­tures, Blue­Yard Cap­it­al, Pos­sible Ven­tures, Taavet Sten and Acequia Cap­it­al par­ti­cip­ated in the round. New investors are the cor­por­ate ven­ture of inter­na­tion­al FMCG giant Hen­kel, Hen­kel dx Ven­tures, Bay­ern Kapit­al and Alante Capital.

Inspired to cre­ate a bet­ter future in col­lab­or­a­tion with nature, Insem­pra takes a mar­ket-first approach to devel­op­ing its sci­ence, cre­at­ing ingredi­ents that cus­tom­ers need. By har­ness­ing new tech­no­lo­gies to advance bio­lo­gic­al man­u­fac­tur­ing pro­cesses, the com­pany cre­ates nat­ur­ally super­i­or products to drive the regen­er­at­ive revolu­tion. Insem­pra designs and builds these ingredi­ents with atom­ic pre­ci­sion so that they can be rap­idly pro­duced and man­u­fac­tured at scale, offer­ing bet­ter solu­tions to agri­cul­tur­ally and pet­ro­chem­ic­ally sourced oils and materials.

Driv­en by mar­ket need and col­lab­or­a­tions with world-wide renowned con­sumer brands, Insem­pra is grow­ing lip­ids for cos­met­ic and food applic­a­tions. It is also devel­op­ing tech­no­logy that offers a bio-based altern­at­ive to every­day mater­i­als such as poly­mers and tex­tiles and pro­gress­ing its bio­lo­gic­al solu­tions to cre­ate new nat­ur­al molecules for use in func­tion­al ingredi­ents, such as anti­ox­id­ants and pre­ser­vat­ives and fla­vours and fragrances.
