Med­ic­al Val­ley Award — From Research to Startup!

The Med­ic­al Val­ley Award is enter­ing its 5^th round. It is a pre-start-up pro­ject of the Bav­ari­an State Min­istry of Eco­nom­ic Affairs, Region­al Devel­op­ment and Energy. So far, 30 research pro­jects have been fun­ded with the Med­ic­al Val­ley Award. It is aimed at aca­dem­ic research pro­jects with spin-off poten­tial in an early pro­ject phase.

Sci­entif­ic pro­jects with spin-off poten­tial in the field of medi­cine have the oppor­tun­ity to apply for fund­ing of 500,000 euros over a peri­od of two years. Up to five teams will receive the funding.

Bav­ari­an uni­ver­sit­ies, col­leges, uni­ver­sity hos­pit­als and non-uni­ver­sity research insti­tu­tions are eli­gible to apply.

The applic­a­tion phase begins on 15 Janu­ary 2024 and ends on 7 April 2024.

The fol­low­ing top­ics will be fun­ded in particular:

• Innov­at­ive ima­ging diagnostics
  
• Nov­el con­cepts for and with integ­rated sensor technology
  
• Tech­no­lo­gies to sup­port health pro­mo­tion and prevention
  
• Innov­at­ive plat­form tech­no­lo­gies in the field of pre­dic­tion, pro­gnostics or dia­gnostics in med­ic­al tech­no­logy (includ­ing approaches based on the applic­a­tion of digit­al tech­no­lo­gies such as arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence and machine learning)
  
• Innov­at­ive med­ic­al tech­no­logy or med­ic­al inform­at­ics-based ther­apy or rehab­il­it­a­tion formats
  
• Innov­at­ive approaches in the field of digit­al health in med­ic­al tech­no­logy (espe­cially if there is poten­tial for reim­burse­ment by pay­ers under the Digit­al Health­care Act DVG)
  
• Digit­ally sup­por­ted con­cepts for integ­rated care
  
• Robot­ics & human-machine inter­face solu­tions in the health­care sec­tor, e.g. in the area of care
  

Devel­op­ment of phar­ma­ceut­ic­als is not funded.
