BP, Fulcrum, Johnson Matthey

British multinational oil and gas company BP was involved in fuelling the first commercial SAF flight in 2008 and invested in developing a straight forward and cost effective SAF production route from solid municipal waste. The Californian Bioenergy company Fulcrum pre-treats and gasifies solid municipal waste. The resulting synthesis gas is then converted to SAF in a Fischer-Tropsch process developed and licensed by BP and Johnson Matthey. As part of the strategic partnership, Fulcrum is expected to provide 50 million US gallons of SAF per year.
