IFP/​Axens, Futurol

The French company and IFP subsidiary Axens produces second generation bioethanol in a four-step proprietary process using the Futurol® technology. After pre-treatment, enzymatic and whole cell biocatalysts produced on site hydrolyse the biomass and convert the resulting sugars into ethanol respectively. Next to bioethanol, multiple other chemical building blocks are obtained using the Futurol technology.
