The Internet of Things is regarded as a substantial, future field of development for profound innovations. This development also holds true for IoT-innovations in the fields of biotechnology and medical engineering. A few examples are petri dishes that are equipped with integrated systems to monitor cultivation conditions, OR-instruments that contain tracking functions as well as wound dressings with sensors for infection detection. The range of the IoT-approach’s innovative applications is vast.
Within the ZIM innovation network (ZIM-IN) “Biocompatible IoT-solutions for biotechnology and medical engineering” (BioMed-IoT), we develop new, biocompatible IoT-solutions in the fields of biotechnology and medical engineering. We focus on:
Reproducibility
Cost reduction
Efficiency increase
Monitoring/Data collection
Sustainability
