CAS­CAT GmbH

CAS­CAT GmbH is a young, innov­at­ive spin-off of the Tech­nic­al Uni­ver­sity of Munich. Foun­ded in July 2014, it is based at the Gründerzen­trum Straub­ing. CAS­CAT stands for the com­bin­a­tion of sus­tain­able chem­istry and syn­thet­ic bio­tech­no­logy. The com­pany is spe­cial­ized in the devel­op­ment and pro­vi­sion of (chemo)-enzymatic reac­tion cas­cades for the util­iz­a­tion of renew­able raw mater­i­als. In addi­tion to the iden­ti­fic­a­tion and optim­iz­a­tion of suit­able enzymes, the cent­ral fields of activ­ity are the cost-effect­ive pro­vi­sion and imple­ment­a­tion of effi­cient pro­cesses with com­bined use of sev­er­al cata­lysts. The optim­al coordin­a­tion of dif­fer­ent cata­lysts rep­res­ents one of the most import­ant para­met­ers for indus­tri­al util­iz­a­tion. The developed pro­cesses allow the real­iz­a­tion of arti­fi­cial cas­cade reac­tions that enable entirely new syn­thes­is path­ways or reduce already estab­lished syn­thes­is path­ways to a minimum.

The tech­no­logy plat­form allows CAS­CAT to provide basic chem­ic­als as well as fine and spe­cialty chem­ic­als using new pro­cesses. Part­ner­ships on a licens­ing basis are being sought for the large-scale pro­duc­tion of basic chem­ic­als. The com­pany’s own product port­fo­lio cov­ers fine and spe­cialty chemicals.
