Thüringisches Insti­tut für Tex­til- und Kun­st­stoff-Forschung e. V. (TITK)

The TITK is a mod­ern, glob­ally recog­nized mater­i­als research insti­tute for func­tion­al and con­struc­tion poly­mer mater­i­als and, being closely con­nec­ted to industry, con­ducts both indus­tri­al pre­lim­in­ary research and applied research in the fields of nat­ive poly­mers (cel­lu­lose, starch, pro­teins), com­pos­ites rein­forced with nat­ur­al fibers, and ​“biopoly­mers”, among oth­ers. It sup­ports small and medi­um-sized com­pan­ies in their innov­a­tion efforts with inter­dis­cip­lin­ary expert­ise, know-how, innov­at­ive product ideas, industry know­ledge and the pro­vi­sion of a mod­ern tech­nic­al and equip­ment infra­struc­ture. The aim of these cooper­a­tions is the devel­op­ment of sus­tain­able pro­cesses and com­pet­it­ive products in accord­ance with the indi­vidu­al require­ments of the respect­ive cus­tom­er. In pro­ject groups, qual­i­fied and com­mit­ted experts devel­op mater­i­als, pro­cesses and meth­ods and thus make an import­ant con­tri­bu­tion to increas­ing the com­pet­it­ive­ness of the cooper­a­tion part­ners from industry. As a res­ult, our ser­vices can be applied in the most diverse areas of the chem­ic­al, plastics and tex­tile indus­tries. A team, con­sist­ing of 202 employ­ees, works in the insti­tute and in the three sub­si­di­ar­ies on the fast and com­pet­ent exe­cu­tion of the most dif­fer­ent research and devel­op­ment activ­it­ies as well as the product man­u­fac­tur­ing and the numer­ous mater­i­al tests.
