Thüringisches Institut für Textil- und Kunststoff-Forschung e. V. (TITK)
The TITK is a modern, globally recognized materials research institute for functional and construction polymer materials and, being closely connected to industry, conducts both industrial preliminary research and applied research in the fields of native polymers (cellulose, starch, proteins), composites reinforced with natural fibers, and “biopolymers”, among others. It supports small and medium-sized companies in their innovation efforts with interdisciplinary expertise, know-how, innovative product ideas, industry knowledge and the provision of a modern technical and equipment infrastructure. The aim of these cooperations is the development of sustainable processes and competitive products in accordance with the individual requirements of the respective customer. In project groups, qualified and committed experts develop materials, processes and methods and thus make an important contribution to increasing the competitiveness of the cooperation partners from industry. As a result, our services can be applied in the most diverse areas of the chemical, plastics and textile industries. A team, consisting of 202 employees, works in the institute and in the three subsidiaries on the fast and competent execution of the most different research and development activities as well as the product manufacturing and the numerous material tests.
