BioR­aff­Sug­ar­Beet — From the Sug­ar Fact­ory to Biorefinery

Inten­tion:
In the present pro­ject, the mater­i­al util­iz­a­tion of sug­ar beet is to be developed in an integ­rated biore­finery by step­wise pro­cess modi­fic­a­tion of the tra­di­tion­al sug­ar extrac­tion towards a com­plete util­iz­a­tion of the whole plant. For this pur­pose, pro­cesses should be estab­lished that trans­form the resid­ual and waste mater­i­al flows of valu­able mater­i­als accu­mu­lated dur­ing the tra­di­tion­al sug­ar extrac­tion. Start­ing from the tra­di­tion­al sug­ar pro­duc­tion based on sug­ar beets, con­cepts should be developed to pro­duce sug­ar sub­strates for an effi­cient biore­finery based on the sug­ar beet’s whole plant.
