The project “Production of biobased polyester-urethan-fibers (PEU fibers) for medical applications” targets the development a biobased, biocompatible and bioresorbable surgical suture material. The fibers should meet certain requirements that could not yet fully or partially be met with present materials. The fibers gain more and more attention from the backdrop of a more efficient resource saving and the desire to substitute sustainably crude oil-based feed stock and materials with regenerative biobased materials.
