TU Munich — Institute of Biochemical Engineering
The Chair of Bioprocess Engineering researches and teaches all aspects of the technical utilization of biological substance transformations. The chair has pilot plants and laboratories with complete infrastructure for the cultivation and analysis of microorganisms and cells from 1 mL — 200 L scale, as well as various workshops. Both on laboratory and pilot plant scale, biological transformations can be investigated in different bioreactors and new products and production processes can be developed. To this end, biotechnologists and engineers work together in an interdisciplinary team and cooperate with scientific and industrial partners in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries as well as in equipment and plant construction.
In addition, Prof. Dirk Weuster-Botz is director of the “TUM Research Center for White Biotechnology”, which is a cross-faculty institution of the Technical University of Munich. Website: www.industrial-biotechnology.tum.de
